Suzanne Micheau opened Everybody's Clothing Co. in January, 2007 to fill a need in the Kalona area: useful clothing at reasonable prices. But her mission does not stop there. As a lifetime recycler, Ms. Micheau has always been in the habit of shopping resale first to find the best bargains. Micheau believes, "Reusing clothes that someone else does not need is a great way to care for our home, planet Earth. Reusing goods such as cars, household goods and clothing, that are already manufactured, reduces manufacturing energy use and reduces landfill needs."
The landfills and the environment get a break when items are used and reused until they are worn out. Consignors also benefit from extra cash in their pockets, and less clutter in their closets.
Clothing that does not sell at Everybody's Clothing is rarely put in the trash can--it is either donated to one of several charities in the area, or 'scrapped' for refashioning, or the material is used for papermaking, crafts, or cleaning rags.
Alongside quality consigned items from folks in the Kalona area and beyond, Everybody's Clothing offers new accessories, underthings, socks, tshirts, fleece, and more is added all the time. Handbags, shoes, hats and scarves, as well as new jewelry, round out the collection.
